BioOptico's augmented reality algorithms are based on enhancing important diagnostic features in video signals based on tissue optical properties. Examples from our video otoscopy products can be seen below. The optical properties of the tympanic membrane are different in normal ears and in inflammation. In this way we can enhance and objectively visualize otitis media and serous otitis conditions, as a colour overlay in the live video during video otoscopy or offline. The resulting augmented reality images/video can be used to assist in diagnosis and treatment selection, to communicate with patients and insurance companies and for documentation. A more specific purpose is the aim of reduced number of antibiotic prescriptions.
